Daman distance from Mumbai, India's major commercial center, is about 193 km. is. It is connected to the state of Gujarat in the east and the Arabian Sea in the west. It has 'Kolak' in the north and 'Kalai' river in the south. The neighboring district of Daman is Valsad district of Gujarat. Diu is an island in India connected by two bridges. Diu is connected to Junagadh district of Gujarat.

The history of Daman and Diu is around 2000 years old. Diu is also mentioned in Mahabharata. The Pandav spent some days of 14 years of exile here.
The island is connected to the mainland via a narrow channel to the north. The climate of Daman is mild and humid while the Diu season is humid. It has no subdivision. The Daman region comes under the charge of a collector while Diu comes under the authority of a civil administrator.

Places to see in Daman - Daman Tourist Place
Daman is divided into two parts. The river dividing these two parts is the Damanganga River. There are several old churches in Moti Daman, the main church being 'Cathedral Bol Jesu'. Beautiful paintings related to the life of Jesus Christ on the walls of this church and the finest wood carvings draw tourists here.

Nani Daman or Chhota Daman, as the name suggests, is the smaller of the two parts of the city. Apart from the above mentioned places you can plan a walk to Zampa Gateway. The Zampa Gateway is marked as the gateway to the Dreev district. The unfinished pages of history suggest that this gateway was constructed during the medieval period. This gateway displays medieval architecture well.

How to reach Daman and Diu
Daman is situated on the Delhi-Mumbai route of the Western Railway. The nearest railway station here is 'Vapi' of Gujarat. Diu is connected by meter gauge railway line. The nearest railway station of Diu is 'Dilwara'. Both Daman and Diu are connected to the airport. There are many daily flights to Mumbai from Diu. Daman has a road length of 191 km and Diu has a long road route of up to 78 km.
